    The Surrey Directory — Terms of Service

    1. Acceptance of Terms

    By accessing or using The Surrey Directory website and services (thesurreydirectory.co.uk), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services. These terms apply to all visitors, business owners, and users of the platform.

    2. About The Surrey Directory

    The Surrey Directory is a local business directory operated by BluNova Digital Ltd t/a The Surrey Directory, registered in England and Wales. We connect consumers in Surrey with local businesses, trades, services, restaurants, and professionals through a searchable online directory.

    3. User Accounts and Registration

    Consumers may browse the directory without creating an account. Business owners wishing to claim or manage a listing must register an account. When registering:

    • You must provide accurate and complete information
    • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
    • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account
    • One account per person or business entity
    • You must be at least 18 years old to create a business account

    4. Business Listings

    4.1 Free Listings

    All businesses may have a free basic listing on The Surrey Directory. Free listings display essential business information including name, address, telephone number, category, and a link to the business website. Free listings are created from publicly available information and may be claimed and managed by the business owner.

    4.2 Claiming a Listing

    Business owners may claim their listing through our verification process, which requires SMS verification and email confirmation. By claiming a listing, you confirm that you are the authorised representative of that business. The Surrey Directory reserves the right to verify ownership and may request additional evidence before approving a claim.

    4.3 Premium Listings

    Premium listings are available on a subscription basis and provide enhanced visibility, additional content fields, click tracking, priority placement, and sector-specific features including (where applicable): direct ordering links, booking buttons, app download links, delivery partner links, and offer promotion tools. Premium features vary by sector and plan.

    4.4 TradeSearch Premium

    TradeSearch is a premium tier within The Surrey Directory for verified trade businesses. TradeSearch members receive a verified trade badge, access to job alert notifications, and enhanced profile features. Membership requires verification of trade credentials and is subject to approval.

    4.5 Listing Requirements

    • All listings must represent legitimate businesses operating in or serving Surrey
    • Business information must be accurate and kept up to date
    • Businesses are responsible for the accuracy of their own listing content
    • The Surrey Directory reserves the right to approve, edit, suspend, or remove any listing at our sole discretion
    • Listings must not contain misleading, defamatory, or unlawful content

    4.6 Wedding Supplier Listings

    Businesses in wedding-related categories may access an additional Wedding Supplier premium listing, which provides a dedicated wedding profile page with wedding-specific service information. This is available as an add-on to a standard premium listing.

    5. The First 500 Club

    The First 500 Club is a founding member offer available to the first 500 businesses to subscribe to a premium listing on The Surrey Directory. Members receive a discounted annual rate of £150/year locked in for the lifetime of their continuous subscription. The First 500 Club rate is non-transferable. If a First 500 Club membership is cancelled, the discounted rate cannot be reinstated and standard pricing will apply upon re-subscription.

    6. Prohibited Content

    The following content is strictly prohibited on The Surrey Directory:

    • False, misleading, or fraudulent business information
    • Content that promotes illegal activities or services
    • Defamatory, discriminatory, or hate speech content
    • Content that infringes on third-party intellectual property rights
    • Spam, duplicate listings, or artificially inflated reviews
    • Content that violates any applicable UK law or regulation

    7. Reviews

    The Surrey Directory may display consumer reviews of listed businesses. Review contributors must provide honest, genuine accounts of their experience. The Surrey Directory reserves the right to remove reviews that are found to be fraudulent, defamatory, or in breach of these terms. Businesses must not submit fake reviews of their own or competitors' listings.

    8. Fees and Payments

    8.1 Pricing

    • Standard premium listing: £25/month or £240/year (20% saving)
    • First 500 Club founding member rate: £150/year locked in for life
    • Wedding Supplier add-on: £150/year
    • TradeSearch premium: pricing as displayed at thesurreydirectory.co.uk/tradesearchjoin
    • All prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable

    8.2 Payment Processing

    All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The Surrey Directory does not store or have access to your payment card information.

    8.3 Billing

    Subscriptions are billed in advance on a monthly or annual basis depending on the plan selected.

    8.4 Refund Policy

    • Monthly subscriptions: cancellable at any time. No refund for the current billing period
    • Annual subscriptions: full refund available within 14 days of purchase. No refund after 14 days except in exceptional circumstances at our discretion
    • First 500 Club: annual subscription, same refund terms as annual subscriptions above
    • Refund requests: billing@thesurreydirectory.co.uk

    8.5 Late Payment

    Failure to pay subscription fees will result in the listing reverting to a free basic listing. Premium features and priority placement will be suspended until payment is received.

    9. Intellectual Property

    9.1 Our Content

    All original content, design, branding, and materials created by The Surrey Directory remain the exclusive property of BluNova Digital Ltd. Users may not reproduce, distribute, or use our content without written permission.

    9.2 Business Content

    Business owners retain ownership of content they submit to their listings but grant The Surrey Directory a perpetual, royalty-free, worldwide, non-exclusive licence to display, reproduce, and use such content in connection with the operation and promotion of the directory.

    10. Privacy and Data Protection

    We are committed to protecting your privacy and processing personal data in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, available at thesurreydirectory.co.uk/privacy-policy.

    By claiming a listing or creating an account, you consent to the collection and use of your contact information (including mobile number) for the purpose of verifying your identity, activating your listing, and communicating service updates.

    11. Limitation of Liability

    11.1 Directory Accuracy

    While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of all business information displayed in the directory. Users should verify information independently before making decisions based on directory content.

    11.2 Third-Party Businesses

    The Surrey Directory is not responsible for any offers, products, services, or transactions provided by businesses listed in the directory. All transactions and disputes are solely between the consumer and the respective business.

    11.3 Service Availability

    The Surrey Directory makes no warranty that services will be available at all times. We are not liable for any delays, interruptions, or unavailability of services.

    11.4 Disclaimer of Warranties

    The services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer under UK law.

    12. Account Termination

    12.1 Termination by You

    You may cancel your subscription and close your account at any time by contacting hello@thesurreydirectory.co.uk. Cancellation of a premium subscription will result in your listing reverting to a free basic listing at the end of the current billing period.

    12.2 Termination by Us

    We may suspend or terminate accounts for violation of these terms, non-payment, or fraudulent activity. In cases of serious breach, termination may be immediate without notice.

    13. Modifications to Terms

    The Surrey Directory reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Registered users will be notified of significant changes by email. Continued use of the services after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.

    14. Governing Law

    These terms are governed by English law. Any disputes will be resolved through appropriate legal channels in England and Wales. Nothing in these Terms of Service affects the statutory rights of any consumer under applicable UK law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
